The ”Meet the Monks” section of this web site lists 734 monks professed at Saint John’s Abbey between 1950 & 2012.  The list serves as a resource to the public, and allows victims to find their perpetrator’s name, or the name of the monk to whom they reported the misconduct, or the monk who counseled them, or the monk that told them to stay quiet. Example: In 2008, a victim found Father Othmar Hohmann’s name via this web site and shared a bit of her story. In 2010, a second victim shared [ View ]. Father Hohmann’s misconduct with multiple victims was reported to the abbey in July of 2010 [ View ] and to the diocese of Saint Cloud in December of 2012. Hohmann’s abuse was finally publicly acknowledged by the abbey on December 9, 2013  [ View ]. It is unknown how long the abbey and/or diocese have been aware of Hohmann’s abuse.

About a year ago I was at a meeting at the St. Cloud diocese offices and talked with a lady who was struggling with having an adult son who is homosexual. We got to talking about it and she mentioned that he graduated from the prep school. I asked her if she knew about what went on there, she didn’t have a clue and was shocked when I told her. Wouldn’t you think the Abbot, and anyone else who pretends to care, would send something to alumni and alumni’s parents informing them of what happened?

Interestingly I get solicited all the time from SJU for money. I have a friend in Minneapolis who’s son was molested by a neighbor, she compared it to SJU, and guess what I NEVER EVER heard about this before this week. Amazing isn’t it.
